Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross Cutting, Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm - Refresher

This course is designed for experienced chainsaw operators who already hold relevant chainsaw qualifications and require refresher training in chainsaw maintenance, cross-cutting, directional felling and processing of trees up to 380mm diameter.

The programme provides learners with the opportunity to review current legislation, industry guidance, safe working practices and recognised operational techniques whilst refreshing practical skills associated with ground-based chainsaw operations. The course focuses on maintaining competence, improving operational decision-making and reinforcing safe working practices within forestry, arboriculture, estate management and wider land-based environments.

Throughout the programme learners will analyse hazards, evaluate operational risks and implement appropriate control measures when carrying out chainsaw maintenance, cross-cutting, felling, snedding, de-limbing, hung-up tree management and timber processing activities. Emphasis is placed upon safe systems of work, environmental responsibility, effective planning and the selection of appropriate techniques for differing site and tree conditions.
