Drug and Alcohol Awareness

This course is designed for individuals who require an understanding of the risks and responsibilities associated with drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

The course introduces the potential safety implications of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol at work and considers the importance of complying with organisational policies and procedures relating to their use.

Learners develop an awareness of different substances that may affect an individual`s ability to work safely, including alcohol, illicit drugs, pharmaceutical medicines and herbal preparations, and consider their responsibilities for ensuring that substance use does not compromise workplace safety.

The course also considers the importance of recognising and appropriately managing situations where drugs or alcohol may affect an individual`s fitness for work and following relevant organisational reporting and support procedures.

Overall, the course aims to increase awareness of drugs and alcohol in the workplace and provide learners with an understanding of their responsibilities for maintaining their own safety and that of colleagues and others who may be affected by their work.
