Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food. Its topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food. This 1-day course is intended for anyone working in a catering or hospitality setting where food is prepared, cooked and served. Typical environments may include pubs, hotels, restaurants, contract catering, fast-food outlets, hospitals, care and nursing homes, schools, prisons and the armed forces. The training is delivered by officers from the food and safety team who regularly give advice to food businesses and assess compliance with food safety laws. Assessment is by learners completing a multiple choice paper at the end of the training.
