
This course is aimed at equine professionals wishing to commence a career as a bit and bridle fitter. The course covers how to fit a bit and bridle correctly, based on the horses anatomy, what to look for in the correct fit and what to avoid. Equine biomechanics and the link between the bit and the horses hind leg action is covered in great detail, taking into account the connections of the various muscle groups. The course also provides a holistic view of the management of the horse, encouraging the student to consider all factors which may be contributing to poor bridle fit including muscular tension, farriery, use of other tack, feeding, dentistry etc. The course is delivered on face to face practical days where theory and “hands-on” skills are covered, Assessment is via practical assessment, written exam and case studies. This course has been written to be a level 4 equivalent, and mapped to appropriate Ofqual descriptors for this.
