This course is designed for employees and other individuals who drive as part of their work and require an understanding of safe driving practices to help protect themselves, passengers, pedestrians and other road users.
The course introduces the risks associated with driving for work and reinforces the importance of adopting safe and responsible driving practices whenever a vehicle is being used for work-related purposes. Learners consider how their behaviour, decisions and actions behind the wheel can influence their own safety and that of others.
Learners develop an understanding of the importance of preparing appropriately for work-related journeys and ensuring that they are fit and able to drive safely. The course considers the need to remain alert to changing road, traffic and environmental conditions and to adapt driving behaviour accordingly.
The course reinforces fundamental safe-driving behaviours, including maintaining appropriate observation and concentration, managing speed and following distances and avoiding distractions or other behaviours that may impair safe vehicle control.
Learners also consider their responsibility for other road users, including pedestrians, and the importance of anticipating hazards, making appropriate decisions and maintaining a safe and considerate approach throughout work-related journeys.
Overall, the course aims to increase awareness of the risks associated with driving for work and reinforce safe, responsible and considerate driving practices that help reduce the likelihood of road traffic incidents, injuries and harm to other road users.
