Understanding Body Language

This course is designed for individuals who want to develop their understanding of body language and improve their ability to interpret and use non-verbal communication effectively.

The course introduces body language and considers how posture, movement, facial expressions, gestures, eye contact and personal distance can contribute to communication. Learners explore the potential benefits of understanding non-verbal signals and how greater awareness of their own body language can support more effective interactions with others.

Learners consider principles for interpreting body language, including observing movements collectively rather than in isolation and considering the context in which behaviours occur. The course explores open and closed body language, hand gestures, head positions, facial expressions and eye movements, together with factors that can influence an individual's preferred personal distance.

Overall, the course aims to increase awareness of non-verbal communication and provide learners with practical knowledge to interpret body language more effectively and improve communication with colleagues, clients and others.
