Hound Husbandry

The Hound Husbandry Course aims to teach young hunt staff that about the care of hounds in kennels as well as what the responsibilities are of looking after a pack of hounds. The course will focus on items within the Code of Practice and primarily cover areas of basic first aid, disease prevention & control, good medical practice, basic treatments and medications for hounds in kennels. All attendees will gain practical experience of handling hounds, restraining hounds, dressing and bandaging, wound cleaning, stapling and stitching. The course is delivered on a theory and practical basis. The theory is delivered by one of the instructors, and group is divided into 2 groups for the practical aspects and delivered by 2 instructors. Both instructors are qualified veterinary surgeons.
