This training course aims to give trainees knowledge, understanding and basic skills in the safe operation of tractors with attachments and includes on and off-road driving. It introduces trainees to hazards and risks involved with driving tractors with attachments and to comply with health and safety legislation. If you’re 16 you can only drive tractors less than 2.45 metres wide and tow trailers less than 2.45 metres wide with 2 wheels, or 4 wheels close-coupled (close together). When using a tractor on the public highway you will need to hold the appropriate licenses for both yourself and the tractor. The length of training may vary depending on the objectives covered, the ratio of trainee/instructor and the ability and previous experience of the trainees. The delivery of training covers a mix of both theory and practical elements.
