Wheeled Loading Shovel W1

This training course aims to give trainees the knowledge, understanding and basic skills required for the safe operation of wheeled loading shovels. It introduces trainees to manoeuvring the machine, travelling both laden and unladen, and carrying out loading, transporting and stockpiling operations safely and efficiently in a range of workplace environments.

Trainees will cover daily pre-use inspections, machine positioning, loading techniques, and the hazards and risks associated with wheeled loading shovel operations, including stability, ground conditions, visibility, attachments, and working in proximity to people, plant, and structures. The course also includes safe systems of work and compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.

The length of training may vary depending on the objectives covered, the ratio of trainee to instructor, and the ability and previous experience of the trainees. The delivery of training includes a combination of theoretical instruction and practical exercises.
